1st April 2021 : I was excited to begin my 1st day of a summer internship in the Sales & Marketing Domain at Ambee after completing my 1st year of the MBA program.

At this point, my only concern was initiating the work via a virtual platform due to the pandemic. But, HR made the process smooth and helped me get onboarded comfortably along with other interns. One by one, I was introduced to the members working at Ambee’s team. From the founders, data scientists, hardware engineers, developers, marketers, and so on.

Other interns and I started working under the guidance of the allotted mentors immediately. The entire sales and Marketing task force helped me throughout my internship and were dependable in each stage. The Hardware and Technical teams provided us ample trainings to familiarize us with the nuances of the product line. There is excellent intra and inter departmental coordination amongst Ambee team members. Meeting deadlines, handling anything unforeseen, making last- minute adjustments never felt burdensome.

Mental health issues are often ignored and not talked about due to many taboo. However, this does not happen at Ambee. The founders here are different. They have established a culture where the Ambee personnel take pride in calling themselves, “Ambee family”. Family — because there’s no distinction on the basis of rank or education. Everyone here is treated equally , just like a family. Every individual’s achievement is celebrated by one and all. Likewise , if anyone is in trouble , the entire family is available for help. There is a “No work” meeting organized every week which involves fun-filled activities to de-stress everyone. All of the Ambee team members participate without having any inhibitions to express themselves.

Even though I had completed a year in my MBA program, I was still ambiguous about my future goals and the path to take. Here, I gained practical experience in the Sales & Marketing domain, and got introduced to many detailed aspects of the business. My thought process and decision making became more structured with each new task. Regular feedbacks is at the heart of Ambee work policy. There was a lot of learning and every day I was motivated to be a better version of myself.

Finally, the time came when the 2nd academic year of my MBA program was about to begin, and I had to end this internship with a heavy heart. All the interns were given a wholesome farewell on the same virtual platform we were acquainted with so well. Our mentors complimented us for our work .

We gained the knowledge, skillset, and the fearless attitude we need to go ahead with our careers. These experiences helped us emerge out of it as more confident individuals than what we were 2 months ago. This journey will be cherished forever.
